– Here at Models Direct we are always looking for new and exciting ways to stay active and healthy. This week we have explored aqua aerobics as a way to make fitness fun.

As the name suggests, aqua aerobics is a form of aerobics performed in water, either shallow or deep, depending on the style being taught. You should be able to find an aqua aerobics class in your nearest town these days as it is growing in popularity due to the benefits that it provides. Let us start with the obvious. Fitness doesn’t get much more fun that aqua aerobics! There is nothing like splashing around in the water and you we challenge you not to leave a session with a smile on your face.

Mobility

Exercising in water is a fantastic activity for those who suffer with conditions like osteoporosis or who have other mobility or joint problems. When in water you weigh about 60% less than you do on land, so it can give a freedom not offered by other forms of exercise.

Pregnancy

Aqua aerobics is the ideal exercise for pregnant women. It will boost self confidence and help to keep you mobile and trim. It is also said to reduce childbirth pain.

Fitness

While gentle enough on the joints and ligaments to be suitable for almost anyone, aqua aerobics can still burn up to 700 calories per session.

Social

Aqua aerobics is a fab pastime and it will give you a chance to meet other people who enjoy doing something a bit different!
