Sunday Jean Claude Duvalier return to Haiti after 24 years in exile was met with total surprise .He was forced by the people of Haiti to fled to France in 1986 . He took over the presidency at age 19 after the death of his father Francois “Papa Doc” Duvalier in !971 . During his reign in office he was known as a playboy. Duvalier said he came back to help after last years devastating earthquake . The ex leader has been charged with corruption and embezzlement during his 1971 to 1986 rule prosecutors say , though he denies any wrong doing . A hotel in the hills above the center of the capital was where he was staying when they came and led him away to court . After questioning he was allowed to go free and a judge will decide if his case goes to trial . Charges of corruption,theft , misappropriation of funds and other alleged crimes had been brought against him ,Port au Prince’s chief prosecutor Aristidas Auguste told Reuters. He also is to have alleged tortured and murdered thousands of people when he was in power and used brutal militia to control the country and now there are many people wanting Mr Duvalier to be prosecuted .He was visited Tuesday by Haiti’s chief prosecutor and a judge who questioned him about embezzling millions of dollars from state coffers and money he stole from the country’s treasury. He was jeered as he was taken to court and some others cheered to show support .
