A statement released by St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., said that the 42-year-old superstar singer, Celine Dion delivered premature but healthy fraternal boys Eddy and Nelson Saturday afternoon. One boy weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces, while the other weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces. The boys came a month early.
Dion was due to deliver next month, but earlier this week, it was announced that she was hospitalized as a precaution to make sure she was near her doctors as she prepared to give birth. Dion and her husband-manager, Rene Angelil, are parents of a 9 year son,Rene Charles. But she had long wanted to have more children and like with her first child, she had a hard time becoming pregnant.
She has spoken openly about her struggles,undergoing several rounds of in-vitro fertilization.The couple have been open about their long struggle to conceive and underwent six attempts at IVF in 12 months. She revealed she was originally carrying triplets.
The singer and her husband Rene Angelil talked about their heartache in an interview with a French news station.’He chose to let go to give space to his brothers to grow,’ she explained.Meanwhile, Celine settled on names for her twins yesterday after considering ‘nearly 15,000 names.Eddy is named after Eddy Marnay, who produced the singer’s first five records and Nelson was inspiraed by Nelson Mandela, whom the they met in 2008 while on tour in South Africa.
