There will be a new road map for the next two years .The presidential election is not until 2012 but there will be plenty of tea-leaf-reading on Tuesday night, especially when Western results start coming in. President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign will be affected by the result of gubernatorial races in states like Ohio, Iowa, Florida and his home state of Illinois. At midterm, his grade will rely largely on the outcome of Tuesdays elections.The fight is on for control of Congress and The Republicans hope to pick up the 40 seats they need to retake control of the House after four years of Democratic rule.
The large number of too close to call congressional races in states like ,West Virginia Colorado,Illinois and Nevada has some predicting more contested elections and recounts this year.A slow count of ballots in states like Washington and Alaska is expected. Big problems do not usually surface unless there are razor edge race And there are many prospects for those this year. Battles over recounts may be in the hands of lawyers ,There are eight states that have candidates in House and Senate races who are running a tight race.
Lawyers across the country have already chased down reports of inconsistency, part of a pre election fueled by supporters that are concerned that their candidates will suffer from voter and ballot fraud.There are claims in Nevada of electronic voting machines that automatically recorded votes for a candidate when tested are phony absentee ballots.
Pennsylvania voters with the wrong return address and volunteers in Wisconsin vowing to chase away those trying to vote who are not properly registered. New York voters are expecting trouble from their new electronic voting machines that already proved unreliable in September. At the end of election day Tuesday will be a long day.
