Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) January 26, 2012
When the best teams in the NFL visit Indianapolis for the championship game on Feb. 5, they will be greeted by dinosaurs wearing Super Bowl Super Scarves and other surprises at The Children?s Museum of Indianapolis.
?The Museum is always changing to meet the needs of our visitors,? said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children?s Museum of Indianapolis. ?We are constantly looking for fun and imaginative ways to capture attention and provide unique family learning experiences. The costumed dinosaurs are a playful way to pique interest, while a visit inside delivers engaging opportunities to learn more about these ancient creatures along with experiencing the thrill and adventure of archaeology, science, history and more.?
Blue and white Super Scarves as long as 30 feet will drape the necks of the life-size alamosaur seen breaking out of the museum?s Dinosphere with the mother alamosaurus, affectionately named Yvonne after her donor, leading the charge. The two brachiosaur peeking into the Museum?s Welcome Center ? Seymour and Riad ? are also donned in Super Scarves. Trustee Yvonne Shaheen was one of several knitters who helped create Super Bowl Super Scarves for volunteers who are working the game to wear. Volunteer knitters Karin Schmitt, Alison Jester and Sarah Burton used broomsticks and 5,000 feet of rope to knit the super-sized scarves for the dinosaurs.
The dinosaurs and their football are just the first glimpse at the Super Spirit of the museum. Race fans will enjoy an NFL tribute on an IndyCar as the Museum will be the proud home to one of the Super Cars representing each of the NFL?s football teams. Each and every member of the front line staff took part in Super Service training to ensure that the museum?s extraordinary service continues to exceed expectations.
Retired Indianapolis Colts Defensive Tackle, Larry Tripplett will take center stage as part of the Museum?s Target Free Family Night on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 4 ? 8 p.m. Larry Tripplett will be on-site along with Darrin Gray from All Pro Dad, Tony Dungy?s national football-themed fatherhood program. The family-friendly event will also include family activities, fitness tips and free autographs. The first Thursday of each month is always free to museum visitors from 4-8 p.m.
In the months leading up to the big game, thousands of museum visitors took part in Indianapolis Host Committee programs such as creating Super Kids, Super Welcome Cards with special drawings and greetings from children, which will welcome visitors in Indianapolis area hotel rooms. Children and families learned how to knit and crochet during the museum?s family programs to create Super Scarves for volunteers working the NFL?s biggest game. The scarves will be worn as part of the official volunteer uniforms. The museum contributed gifts to Super Baskets of Hope, offering hospitalized children emotional and spiritual nourishment through uplifting gift baskets. The Children?s Museum will also host more than 350 middle-school students as part of the One World: Connecting Communities, Cultures, and Classrooms program, which culminates with workshops on Jan. 30 at The Children?s Museum.
Coming to the world’s largest children’s museum in 2012: Visitors will experience CSI: Flight Adventures (launches Feb. 25, 2012) and temporary exhibits consisting of The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD
