The first of the 12 US soldiers that had seen heavy fighting in Afghanistan and was attached to the 5th Stryker Brigade are ,are facing charges on killing Afghan civilians for sport .They face being court marshaled on Wednesday .
Staff Sgt Stevens is said to have shot at three Afghan men near the Army base in March and conspired along with other men to shoot the three Afghan men, according to the information obtained from the Army.

At that time he was not charged with murder but now he faces charges include conspiracy to commit assault and battery, dereliction of duty and aggravated assault. Prosecutors said in May Sgt Stevens lied to a military investigators saying he thought the men were armed with a rocket propelled grenade.

If convicted by the military hearing in Washington state, Sgt Stevens faces up to 27 years in prison, the Army said .Five murder charges are hanging over the heads of the other eleven others charged. Staff Sgt. Calvin Gibbs threatened to kill another soldier if he reported drug use to commanding officers and after he showed him fingers bones, leg bones and a tooth from Afghan corpses. The lawyer for Sgt Gibbs maintains the shootings were appropriate and denies any plot to murder Afghans.
