An elderly German tourist at a fashionable Red Sea resort in the Sinai Peninsula had her arm torn off by a shark and some reports saying both legs.
She was snorkeling at the time of the attack that killed her almost immediately security and diving officials said. Hesham Gabar, the head of Egypt’s Chamber of Diving and Water Sports, said, “It was definitely a shark attack.” The famed diving and vacation resort that is popular among European tourists had recently re opened the waters after saying they captured the sharks that were involved in earlier attacks that had badly mauled four other people off the waters on the Sham el Sheikh‘s beaches ..
The Oceanic white tip sharks attacked three Russian and a Ukrainian tourist with two of the attacks resulting in an elderly woman’s hand being bitted off and another women’s leg being tore off. They suspect the shark that was involved in the attacks is still at large according to some experts,
even though two sharks suspected in the mauling of the four tourists were caught .Authorities ordered beefed up security measures at the beaches in the area and with the waters off Sham el Sheikh closed to watersports.
