After eight months of deadlock US President Barack Obama has a new power sharing agreement with Iraq. Once again the Iraq’s are showing their determination to unify Iraq and build its future with this milestone in this history making agreement. Mr. Obama stressed the need for leaders from all the main blocs to hold posts in broad based government and the leaders to treat all Iraqis as equals. All indications are that the government will be representative, inclusive and will reflect the will of the Iraq people who voted in the last elections never the less there are still challenges to overcome. Continuing support for Iraq was also pledged by the president saying we will support the Iraq people as they strengthen their democracy and resolve political disputes and those displaced by war will be resettled. And form ties of commerce and co-operation with the United States, the region and the world.
Osama al Nujaifi -a Sunni Arab member of al-Iraqi , a former governor was the first move the Iraqi politicians was to elect as speaker of parliament.
But before the vote could be held, about a third of the al-Iraqiyya Mps walked out. Mr. Talabani, the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan was supposed to be reappointed as president by the votes of the Mps.
