After receiving four awards from the National Society of Film Critics in the US ,The Social Network seems destine for an Oscar nomination which will be announced on January 25. The movie which is about how the popular internet site called Facebook came about and its rise to success with its young founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Jessie Eisenberg who portrays Mr Zuckerberg has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and British actress Olivia Williams was also named best supporting actress , another one of her roles was in Roman Polanski’s movie, the Ghost ,where she played the wife of a Prime Minister . David Fincher was named best director and writer Aaron Sorkin for the best screenplay. The Palm Springs International Film Festival gave the cast of The Social Network the ensemble performance award.
Other movies to be nominated are The King’s Speech ,a movie about helping King George VI overcome a stammer ,starring Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush . The Black Swan , starring Natalie Portman who was named best actress for her role as a ballerina. Carey Mulligan, the British actress ,was given an award for her breakthrough performance in Never Let me Go and Wall Street Money. The Oscar winning director of Slumdog Millionaire and 127 hours ,Danny Boyle , was presented with a visionary award with the international star honor going to Javier Bardem.
