At a power plant north of New York City a transformer exploded leading to an emergency shut down on one of its reactors .No one was injured on Sunday at the Indian Point plant in Buchanan ,an official of the plant reported.
Jim Steels a spokesman for the plant says no radioactive materials leaked. Entergy Corp is the company that owns the plant where the explosion happened on Sunday. There were reports suggesting there was a fire but there was no fire despite the earlier reports.
Company spokesman Jim Steets said, “The transformer that exploded was outside and not near the reactor. “ Just after 6:30 p.m. Indian Point 2 was shut down after an explosion but Indian Point 3 was operating normally .Another Entergy owned plant had to be shut down about a hour later, making it the second emergency at a Entergy plant within the hour to have problems .

The two Entergy plant shut downs were completely coincidence says the Nuclear Regulatory Commission..
