New, GPS-enabled vehicle-tracking systems have hit the market. With an increase in vehicle thefts around the country new GPS system are hitting the market to make it much harder to steel your car.
Based on the telematics (a science of wireless communication in automatives) used by anti-theft equipment in the US, a Delhi-based company has introduced a GPS-enabled device that can not only render a stolen vehicle immobile once a code is entered on the cellphone, but also track the location of the vehicle.
In the size of a pocket camera the new GPS device is fitted onto the vehicle and can setup to use up to three cell phone numbers through a chip. If the car is stolen it transmits an alert to each of the cell phone numbers twice.
The owner can then use a pass code on the mobile handset to render the vehicle immobile by cutting off the fuel supply. The car can be locked and a siren activated and the vehicle tracked through the GPS by feeding in the coordinates (latitude and longitude) sent to the cellphone.
The car owner can then call the police giving all the information about the car theft and the location.
