Mel Gibson arrived about 10 minutes before Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva arrived for the all day session in court at a downtown Los Angeles courthouse for custody hearings involving his infant daughter and estranged girlfriend..
Escorted by deputies, the Academy Award star remained mostly out of sight during a lengthy morning break and walked calmly through the courthouse with his attorneys going to a luncheon strategy session.
Judge Scott Gordon’s closely guarded courtroom blocked reporters that assembled outside but Gibson did not speak to the reporters.
The custody proceedings, by law, are closed to the public and the case file is sealed.

They are also investigating claims that Gibson says she attempted to extort him after their breakup.
Grigorieva said the actor-director abused her during a fight in January; the detectives are looking into the allegations but are wondering why she waited a month to report the incident. No charges have been filed and potential evidence in that inquiry has been turned over to prosecutors,
