A trip through airport security in New Orleans will subject you to a new piece of technology for national security “a complete body scan”.
The next time you pass thru a security check point at Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans, you may be randomly selected for a full body scan. This raises a number of privacy concerns. However, most travelers at the airport Monday said they’re grateful for any increase in security.
The Federal stimulus package is paying for the TSA to put 450 more body scan machines at select airports around the country
The advanced imaging system was unveiled Monday; effectively raising the overall level of security.
“Millimeter-wave technology bounces harmless, electromagnetic waves off the body to create a fuzzy, black and white image,” said Ray White, area director for the TSA. If you are selected for advanced screening, you’d simply raise your arms and allow electromagnetic waves to create an image of you.
Your face is blurred in the black and white image displayed on a monitor, in a secure remote location.
