The extreme snowfall caused thousands of Britons to delay their Christmas plans due to the cancellation’ of plane’s flying out of Heathrow and Gatwick Airport’s.
Only a few flights departed and the heavy snowfall forced the people to sleep at the airport or in a nearby hotel. Many planes were frozen into their parking places. When the passengers asked when they could expect to get to their destinations an airport spokeswoman said, ”We are in the hands of the weather.” Leaving the stranded passengers with no idea where they will be spending Christmas.
On Monday the airport hoped to be operational but cautioned there would probably be more cancellations and delays in the days that follow to allow airlines to move diverted aircraft and crew back to their normal positions. BBA said, Three flights had landed at Heathrow late Sunday night with more maybe to arrive later To calm the dilemma and tension of the flight delays the bars stayed open and some people were drinking a lot and got quite nasty,Sue Kerslake said She had spent the night on the floor with her three young grandchildren after their Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong was canceled.
The people who were the lucky one’s were those who holiday plans had been canceled in the first place and they wouldn’t have to be stressed out by being stuck at the airport not knowing weather their plane would be able to take them to the destination they wanted to go
