Suicide attackers killed 13 members of the security forces on two Afghan military bases , the Taliban have claimed responsibility ,Quentin Sommerville said from Kabul. Also about 20 recent army recruits were wounded. Five of the attackers were also killed in the raid. At least four Suicide bombers who were dresses in army uniforms launched a long gun battle when they attacked an army recruitment center in the northers city of Kanduz ,Hamdullah Danishi ,the provincial deputy governor ,told the AP news agency.
About 100 people were trapped when foreign and Afghan soldiers surrounded the building,a local trader told the BBC the base was on fire and they was heavy machine gun fire and RPG’s (rocket propelled grenades.
In another attack they ambushed an army bus filled with Afghan soldiers outside the country’s main recruitment center on the outskirts of Kabul ,the attacks were meant to terrorize recruits and warn Afghans not to join the security forces ,in a drive that is currently underway ,according to correspondents. The police chief of the Kunduz province, Mawlana Sayed Kel, told the BBcC”The enemy came prepared “.
President Hamid Karzai called the attacks criminal after the Taliban claimed they are responsible for the terrorists attacks.
