The 5th annual Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine 5K Charity run was held on Saturday, June 9. 188 registered runners and walkers took part in the 3.1 mile event. This event was a charity run/walk that raised approximately $ 2,490 with this being matched by KCH for a donation of $ 4,980 to the DeKalb County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The overall winner was Rob Workman of Aurora with a time of 18:33. The women?s winner was Jamie Mayer of Aurora who finished 5th overall with a time of 20:03. Although the event was very competitive for a number of runners, it was also meant for each individual to test their personal fitness abilities. The number of runners ranged in age from 6 to 77. All runners received a goody bag and t-shirt prior to the run and were treated to post race food, water, stretching, massage and a number of raffle prizes. ?The local community has once again been very generous with financial sponsorships, product donations, time and effort that have allowed us to provide an enjoyable experience for all competitors and the approximately 50 volunteers,? said Chris Laurent, Unlimited Performance athletic trainer and race director. ?Due to the strong support we get from both the local community and Kishwaukee Community Hospital we have been able to make this event a success each year, for this the staff at Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine would like to thank all those who helped and participated,? Chris said. Results and pictures are posted on the Unlimited Performance web site at http://www.unlimitedperformance.org.
