IdentiCare Launch Tackles Emergency Department?s $30 Billion Problem

Lake Oswego, Oregon (PRWEB) March 27, 2012

U.S. Emergency Departments lose $ 30 Billion annually to patient registration issues with outdated addresses, mistyped names, and identity mismatching. Unless identity, address, and name issues are dealt with while the patient is still in the emergency department, working with the registration staff, immense amounts of money and time are spent fixing issues that could have been fixed in seconds. Frequently, the issues are so difficult to deal with after the patient leaves, that bills are simply sent to collections, never to be recovered, even when patients had every intention of paying.

IdentiCare was created by Dr. Sean Scorvo, an emergency medicine physician and founder of MiddleGate Med in Lake Oswego, Oregon, to deal with this $ 30 Billion problem. IdentiCare was designed to save time, identify inconsistencies in patient registrations, and enhance compliance with federal laws that give everyone equal access to emergency and urgent care services, allowing IdentiCare? to predict a combined cost savings and increase in collections of over $ 3 Million annually for an average sized emergency department.

Dr. Scorvo noted, ?I saw doctor?s I admired leaving practice because of decreasing reimbursement. I saw patient registration staff not using address and identity database systems our administration had spent a mint on because the systems slowed them down, frustrated patients, and scared staff into thinking that the systems made the hospital non-compliant with federal laws. Most importantly, I saw that this meant that we lost a number of patient care services we could no longer afford to provide.?

John Griffith, CFO of MiddleGate Med said, ?Improving collections and cost savings for hospitals in this era of budget austerity is significant and essential.? He went on to note that the IdentiCare? web-services program achieves both, allowing hospitals to make up for rapid erosion of their payment structure, whether they come from cuts to government programs, insurance, or the simple economics of recession.

MiddleGate Inc. is perfectly positioned to assist hospitals with their collection efforts, reducing bad debt and improving the accuracy of their patient contact database. Hospital Emergency Departments, their doctors and nurses will benefit greatly by utilizing the IdentiCare? system. The system generates critical and timely information on patients, area disease outbreaks and much more.
