Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) August 30, 2011
BYU and University of Utah fans will meet on September 16 at 6:30 p.m., the night before their football game, to play Red vs. Blue in the world’s largest dodgeball game. The two rivalry teams have agreed to play on neutral grounds at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah, the halfway point between both schools.
The dodgeball game will be an official Guinness World Record attempt to beat the existing Guinness largest dodgeball game of 2,136. It is expected that over 3,000 people will play in the game to show their school pride and participate in one of the ?Top College Football Rivalries? (Bleacher Report).
The rivalry football game between the two schools is referred to as ?The Holy War? and dates back to 1896. Despite Utah moving to the Pac-12 and BYU becoming an independent, the two schools have signed on to play each other during the 2011 and 2012 seasons and are working on making the football game an annual event from 2013 on. The dodgeball game is also planned to be an annual event and several school ?legends? are expected to participate in the game.
The game is sponsored by Property Solutions, a local property management software company. Property Solutions is holding the event for free and taking donations on behalf of Camp Kesem, a charity that supports children of cancer patients. The event will provide free t-shirts and J-dawgs for the first 2,500 people to arrive. The event will also include an after party with a movie and dance.
The school who wins the dodgeball game will receive a prize and bragging rights for the year. For more information go to http://www.propertysolutions.com/dogeball.
