Catcher in the Rye was published in 1951 written by JD Salinger, according to reports the US has banned a book billed as the sequel from being released in the US . Publishers Weekly said , A lengthy copyright dispute over the book has reached a settlement between Swedish author Fredrik Colting and Salinger’s estate with part of the deal being it can be sold in others countries but cannot be published in US or Canada. Colting’s book was published in the UK in June of 2009 and according to Salinger the book was a rip off ,pure and simple , the book that features a character based in Salingers anti hero Holden Caulfield was a a literary commentary and not a sequel according to the Swedish author Colting. Legal action against Colting who wrote the book under the pseudonym John David California, was started by Salinger prior to his death one year ago but its publication was blocked by a judge in North America saying it mirrored Salinger’s original book to closely and though 60 years have passed Colting can not call his book ,Coming through the Rye. A settlement was reached before the case went to trial and Colting was granted an Appeal last May.
