The ill fated Spider Man Musical once again will delay the opening of the show which was originally scheduled to be in February due to changes in the ending of the shows production. The producer Michael Cohl promised this would be the final postponement and the show will open in Mach but says he wants the extra time to rehearse a new ending .Director Julie Traymor said,”We are dedicated to giving the audience the best show we can and we are so grateful for the enthusiastic audiences who have been coming to see Spider Man.” The show has been plagued with problems from the first preview night of opening with on stage injuries , technical glitches and not so favorable review from the critics. In one preview performance Christopher Tierney was seriously injured plus four other actors suffered injuries during the previews Natalie Mendoza the lead actress announced in December she was leaving the show.
The musical is still selling out the 1,930 sear Foxwoods Theater that is located in Times Square almost every night in even though the preview performances have not went well .The theater will have to sell out every show for several years to break even to be able to pay the weekly running cost of about $1 million. The shows huge cast consists of 41 members in the show itself, 18 orchestra members and dozens of aerial stunt artists. U2 stars Bono and The Edge who wrote the score announced earlier this month they would return from touring to help with the shows problems
