The BBC will broadcast a recorded Christmas message from Pope Benedict especially directed to the UK . The three minutes of personal reflection from the Pope will be broadcasted on the Radio 4 program as,,The thought for the day. He chose to read his radio message in a room next to the cavernous audience hall in the Vatican as the Pope does not like to perform in front of teleprompters., earlier on Wednesday he had welcomed several thousand pilgrims from around the world.
The Christmas message will be aired on the BBC Christmas Eve. David Willey of the BBc says ,This is the Pope’s way of saying thank you for what he regarded as hugely successful trip to England and Scotland and the only time a Christmas message has been addressed especially to one of the countries that Pope Benedict visited during a trip in September. Our Vatican correspondent says, He speaks of his great fondness for Britain and asks listeners to step back for a moment to consider the meaning of the birth of Jesus Christ .
