Leslie Nielsen the star of Airplane and the Naked Gun movies passed away in a hospital in Ft Lauderdale, Florida at the age of 84, with his family and friends at his side. His agent John S Kelly said he was being treated for pneumonia and had been admitted into the Florida hospital nearly two weeks ago and his conditioned worsened over the past few days. He passed peacefully in his sleep.. The actor was born in the Canadian city of Regina in 1926.
Nielsen first started out is career as a serious actor and in 1950 the actor performed about 150 live dramas on television in New York. . He moved to Hollywood in the mid 1950’s and eventually created a film career as a leading man with his rugged good looks and towering height .He has appeared in more than 100 films and had enjoyed a acting career which has spanned six decades and he has a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
He was 54 when he played the bumbling doctor on the movie Airplane in 1980 that made him become an international star. That role led to another TV spoof crime show Police Squad where again he played the comic role of the accident prone detective, Frank Drebin.
